WRJ RANCH
WRJ Ranch began in 1995 seeking to produce quality breeding stock
with foundation bloodlines. Ranching is a third generation family-operated
venture on land owned by Ancil and Margaret Lindley. DIAMOND
L POLE HEREFORD RANCH, first owned by Ancil, Sr. and Brancie
Lindley, is 3 miles west of Macon, Mississippi, off HWY 14 West.
Our birthing farm is the BW and Gladys West homeplace located
4 miles east of Macon on HWY 14 East. The Johnny Heard Farm on Magnolia Drive is the home of our broodmares. These unique old homeplaces makeup the WRJ Ranch
and are involved in the upkeep of 50 broodmares, 3 breeding stallions and the yearly birthing of numerous beautiful foals
Our friend and ranch manager, Jim Cotton, has suffered a life-altering stroke and has left us searching for someone to help with the care of our ranch and horses.
From
January through July each year the barn becomes our second home
as we oversee the birthing of each mare. The foal is then imprinted
daily for a gentle and workable attitude. This is a must for
a follow-up training, as they are weaned at 4 months.
Our
family works closely with the Mississippi State University Equine
Department for all necessary veterinary checks and treatments. This
keeps the horses up to date on their vaccinations that are so
necessary to maintain a healthy herd.
Wayne
and Rita have two other sons. Wayne, Jr. is married to Cindy
Gibbons of Savannah, TN. Cindy is a guidance counselor in the
Winston County School system. Wayne is owner of Wayne Stewart
Catfish Seigning in Macon, Wayne's Windshield Repair as well as, African Bow Hunting guide.
Gabe, our second son, passed away in March, 2008. He would have been 33 in May. Gabe's memory remains in our hearts and his Spirit will always be near. Pray for our healing. Austin is our number one grandson and has moved to Noxubee County after returning from a tour in Iraq last year. He is an avid hunter and loves to participate in sports. Our precious granddaughter, Anna Lea, is 9 and loves to hunt, ride, and act. Her first horse “Biscuit” is one of our favorites as she has given Anna Lea so many wonderful memories.
Wayne
is Macon's State Farm Insurance Agent and Rita has retired from
Central Academy. This year has been such a learning experience for our family. We have watched our 3rd son, Jeb, venture through the middle and western United States to plant roots in Eureka, California. He is experiencing life and its wonders in a beautiful area of our country. His hard work ethics made our ranch profitable and gave him an opportunity to help others in his new venture. We thank God for 3 sons that have blessed our lives with wonderful and loving memories. |
